Racial Prejudice and Spending on Drug Rehabilitation: The Role of Attitudes Toward Blacks and Latinos Nielsen, Amie L; Bonn, Scott; Wilson, George. Race and Social Problems; New York Vol. 2, Iss. 3-4,  (Dec 2010): 149-163.

Color coding, racial prejudice, and all other negative perspectives individuals have towards minorities is decreasing. But there are other ways in which the system as well as privileged people are trying to keep minorities at a lower standard. Drugs have been said to be excessively used by minorities and stereotypes go as to they are the ones who consume and sell the product. Color coding reflects on this situations because they claim that blacks and other minorities' culture tends to be criminals and are lazy. Racial prejudice comes to contact when they need to set a certain prisons sentence on the individual. White people are more likely to support the sentencing and defend the justice system against the minorities. Out of a total of 864 respondents were examined. The overall results showed that 62 percent is agreeing to  little money is being spent of rehabilitation. Also a high amount of respondents believed blacks and latinos are seen as not hard working, less intelligent, violence prone than whites. Considering that whites highly use color coding, this is affected by media. This source helps criminalize the minorities to keep their race above.

From Type A man to the hardy man: masculinity and health

Riska, Elianne. Sociology of Health & Illness, May 2002, Vol.24(3), pp.347-358

During the past decades a significant number of deaths of middle age men increased. This was caused by high levels of stress, and the different ways each men coped with this health issue. The authors of this article explain that there is 2 types of men and each have a different study name.  The type A man was seen as the norm of all men and the hardy man was the strong masculine man that was strong mentally. The study was based off of middle and upper level men between the ages of 40-49. The personality of this individual was based on whether they were provoking a stress illness. They also mention how the hardy man was a person who is committed, controlling and challenging executives versus the type A  man is a normal individual that is living under daily stress. This study was made to help look back at how personalities can increase the risk. Those similar to type A are not in control of their lives and their hard work can bring in these health issues. As for the hardy man he is in control of his life and looks forward to his career, with many achievements. The differences in health are based off their social position of class and gender. Men's' masculinity helps them cope with stress but there are situations in life where others have better advantages than those who are struggling.
